The discussion will help us better understand the addiction we are recovering from and explore the work it takes become healthier, saner individuals. Recovery is three-fold (physical, emotional and spiritual) and impacts more than just our relationship with food, exercise and our bodies. Indeed long-lasting recovery impacts every area of our lives, including our relationships with God and others. Coming Out of Isolation:
Hallmarks
While weight loss can be a sign of emotional and spiritual recovery, a more important hallmark of long-lasting change is overcoming fear and other character defects that would prevent us from reaching out to others who share our disease of addiction. One of the many paradoxes of recovery is that we "keep what we have only when we are willing to give it away" to fellow addicts. Our contribution to carrying the message of recovery (we "carry" the message, not the addict), no matter how seemingly insignificant, will always come back to benefit us. Are you reaching out beyond your computer and connecting with other men who share your addiction? Who are you sharing your recovery with today?
